Israel will grant a number of scholarships in its institutions of higher learning to non-self-governing territories in Africa to help the territories train professional personnel needed for ultimate independence.
The announcement was made this week-end by Aryeh Eilan, Israel’s delegate in the General Assembly’s trusteeship committee. Telling the committee that “the Government of Israel is in complete sympathy with the aspirations of the various African peoples toward self-government and eventual independence, the Israel delegate said his government would help these aims by joining other countries that have been granting scholarships.
