Circles close to the Israel Government today stressed that the Jewish State expects not only declarations of goodwill from the USSR but deeds in consonance with such statements. This view was expressed in connection with Soviet Premier Malenkov’s statement on Israel made before the Supreme Soviet which is now in session in Moscow.

The same circles pointed out that most important in Israeli eyes is the problem of re-establishing contact with Russian Jewry, looking forward tc the possibility of Jews emigrating from the Soviet Union to Israel. They also underlined that it is Israel’s policy to maintain friendly relations with all nations, regardless of the nature of their internal regimes.
