Dr. Felix E. Shinnar, head of the Israel Purchasing Mission in Germany, today called on Mayor Reuter of West Berlin in connection with the opening of the Mission’s branch office in Berlin, which will be directed by Dr. Grischa Weizmann, nephew of the late Israel President.
It was estimated here today that one-third of the orders which the Israel Mission will place during the current fiscal year in West Germany under the German-Israel reparations pact will go to Berlin firms. The Mission will place as many orders as possible with manufacturers in West Berlin which has a great deal of idle industrial capacity and a large number of unemployed skilled workers. Dr. Shinnar indicated.
One of the most important organs in carrying out the German-Israel reparations agreement is the German-Israel Mized Commission, which convenes at the request of either party. The Commission consists of 12 German representatives and 12 members of the staff of the Israel Purchasing Mission. Whenever a difference of opinion occurs between Israel and Germany, the issue is initially submitted to the Commission.
