Israel Tuesday allowed the Egyptian ship, Lotus, which was anchored in the Beirut harbor, to unload some 2,000 tons of food and medical supplies. The ship, which arrived a few days ago, was not permitted to unload its contents because several leaders of parties in Egypt opposed to Israel were aboard and planned to go ashore to demonstrate against Israel’s military actions in Lebanon. Israeli officials decided to allow the unloading in order to get the medical supplies distributed.
