Israel wants the United States to veto any U.N. Security Council resolution on its security barrier after the International Court of Justice issues its opinion on the fence. Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom told Condoleezza Rice, President Bush’s national security adviser, in a meeting last Friday that the Israeli Supreme Court decision this week to reroute the fence to protect Palestinian interests was proof that Israel does not need outside interference in planning the barrier.
