The Israel Office of Information today warned Americans that the sale of sweepstake tickets in this country and elsewhere in behalf of the Israel War Veterans is completely unauthorized. The statement reads:
“The central committee of the Israel War Veterans and the management of the War Veterans fund — Otsar Hahayal — today announced that at the direct request of the Government of Israel it is refusing to authorize the sale of sweepstake tickets throughout the United States and elsewhere, effective immediately.
“The organization asks ticket owners to demand a refund from those who sold the tickets to them. Otsar Hahayal did not receive any money from the sale of tickets. The veterans organization is especially anxious to warn the public that from this day on no one had authority to sell any sweepstakes or other tickets in behalf of the organization and asks that this warning be given the fullest possible publicity.”
