An “Israel Week” exposition drew nearly 40,000 Jews and non-Jews to the Rio Palace Hotel here to see a display of Israeli products ranging from canned goods to high fashions. The event, sponsored by the local Zionist organization, featured 25 films and an agricultural exhibition. Israeli culinary arts were sampled by some 2500 persons attending five dinners and a fashion show hosted by the Israeli singer Matti Caspi. A special attraction that literally stopped traffic in downtown Rio was the presence of two Israeli policewomen, Capt. Esther Reitman of Bat Yam and Sgt. Sara Toby of Tel Aviv. Both are traffic cops and they demonstrated their skills by directing the heavy traffic in the busy Copacabana district. (By David Markus)
