Israel will ask Britain for assurance that the final Suez Canal settlement will include an agreement for Great Britain to evacuate all heavy military equipment from the Canal zone, including radar, tanks, artillery and aircraft, the Daily Telegraph reported today.
Israel, the report said, will insist especially on British withdrawal of the Fayid radar installations which control aircraft movements on the Haifa route. The report adds that these latest Israeli requests were made in the fifth of a series of notes on the subject of the Canal evacuation sent to Britain from the Israeli Government.
