Foreign Secretary Sir Alec Douglas-Home assured a delegation of the Board of Deputies of British Jews last night that the British government would give “fair Judgement” to the position of Israel when issues arise at the United Nations involving air raids on terrorist bases in Lebanon and Syria. A Foreign Office statement said in reference to the raids, “This does not serve the cause of a final settlement.” The Board of Deputies delegation. headed by Michael Fidler, president of the Board, visited Sir Alec to discuss aspects of international terrorism and the Middle East situation generally.
