Israel will build four new cities with an average population capacity of 30,000, Seling Lubianiker, managing director of Shikun, Histadrut’s building cooperative, told a press conference here yesterday.
Mr. Lubianiker and Abraham Zabersky, managing director of Histadrut’s Workers’ Bank, are in this country on a special financial mission and to aid the $10,000,000 Israel Histadrut campaign now being conducted by the Naitonal Committee for Labor Israel.
“These cities are being built in different parts of the country in order to prevent the concentration of the population at any one point or area,” Mr. Lubianiker explained. These cities are also being planned with an eye to the establishment of new industrial centers because of the local resources at hand. Building operations are being supervised by a Special City Planning Department which has chosen the locations for the cities.”
