Israel will leave the Gaza Strip even if Hamas does well in Palestinian Authority elections, its defense minister said. “The disengagement will not be canceled,” Shaul Mofaz told Army Radio on Tuesday. “It is true that Hamas has been strengthened, but I think we must make enormous efforts to implement the disengagement plan, because ultimately it is important for the State of Israel.”
