Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir today told the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, that the Government would require during the current year, greater sums than provided in the 1963-64 budget “for security expenditure.”
Mr. Sapir informed the House of the estimated increase in defense costs in reply to a question by Idov Cohen, a Liberal, as to whether an additional allocation of 70,000,000 pounds ($23,300,000) for housing immigrants would be followed by other unforeseen needs.
Regarding the question of how the Government would finance the increased expenditure, Mr. Sapir said it would come from “additional sources.” He did not indicate whether a supplementary budget would be required.
