The Israel Government has no intention of proceeding at this time with execution of death penalties, Minister of Justice Pinhas Rosen told Parliament’s legal committee tonight in a statement clarifying misapprehensions that had arisen following his warning earlier this week when the house debated the proposed criminal code. He declared that his remarks then were aimed at warning the house that decision on the death penalty could not be further delayed. The division in Parliament on the issue of capital punishment cuts sharply across party lines.
