Israel Ambassador Abba Eban said today that “we hope within the next few days we may receive beneficial impact from the first stages” of the implementation of the aid to Israel extended under terms of the Mutual Security Act of 1951. The Ambassador indicated that the Technical Cooperation Administration was expediting the extension of assistance to Israel because of the urgency of the situation in the Jewish State.
Mr. Eban told reporters today, after he emerged from a meeting at the State Department with John D. Hickerson, Assistant Secretary of State for United Nations Affairs, that “whatever the T.C.A. will do will help alleviate the situation.” He said that his discussion with Hickerson covered various questions now before the U.N. General Assembly, including Near Eastern problems.
