The Government of Israel is ready to grant contracts for the construction of a deep-sea port at Tel Aviv to foreign corporations on a concession basis, Minister of Communications David Remez announced last night in an address at the opening of the Maritime Club here.
Asserting that the government’s chief target at present consists of developing the port of Haifa, Mr. Remez indicated that Israel does not have sufficient capital for a large-scale program at Tel Aviv’s port. If investors can be found abroad to construct a deep-sea port at Tel Aviv, the Israel Government is ready to open negotiations, he said.
