Fifty-one Israeli youths last night took off from here on the first leg of the first trans-Atlantic flight from Israel to the United States ever flown by a plane of the El Al Company, government-subsidized airline.
The 51 will spend one year in an American civilian training school learning aviation mechanics. They were chosen from among hundreds of applicants who under-went a rigerous examination for the course.
