The Israel Foreign Ministry announced last night the appointment of Brigadier Joseph Avidar as Israel’s new ambassador to Argentina, marking the healing of the rift between the two countries over the seizure of Nazi mass murderer Adolf Eichmann.
The Foreign Ministry said Israel has agreed to accept Rogelio Iristany, an Argentine career diplomat as Argentine Ambassador to Israel. He has been serving as director of the Asian-African department in the Argentine foreign ministry. Brig. Avidar, 54, a former army leader, was Israeli Ambassador to Russia from 1955 to 1958.
