The establishment of a regular monthly cargo service between Mediterranean and Great Lakes ports was announced here today by the American-Israeli Shipping Company, representatives of the Zim lines of Israel. Service will be inaugurated late in Maron.
First eastbound sailings will pick up cargo at Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Toronto, Hamilton and Montreal and will discharge at Barcelona, Piraeus, Naples and Seville as well as Haifa. After two Great Lakes-Mediterranean round trip voyages in 1957, Zim lines decided that it would be able to offer a speedy, economical all-water route on a monthly schedule to handle a mounting volume of trade.
