Israeli defense officials suspect Egyptian police officers of helping Palestinians smuggle arms across the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli daily Ha’aretz. The officials believe Egyptian border patrols and police are involved in the smuggling, either by turning a blind eye or by actively helping the smugglers.
