In Jerusalem today, the Joint Israeli-Transjordan armistice commission met for a second time, under the chairmanship of Gen. William E. Riley, chief military aide to the U.N. mediator. After a fruitless session, the meeting adjourned. The parley took place in a half-destroyed school in no man’s land opposite the Nablus Gate of the Old City.
Arriving in Haifa tonight, accompanied by Henri Vigier, chief civilian aide to the mediator, Riley told newsmen that he intends to transfer the U.N. observation staff from Haifa, probably to Jerusalem, after the Israeli-Syrian armistice agreement is signed.
