The joint Israeli-Egyptian Military Committee met in El Arish today to continue discussions on the second phase of Israel’s withdrawal from western Sinai. The first phase was completed after El Arish was returned to Egyptian sovereignty on May 26. The Egyptians reportedly have asked for details of previous military positions and have inquired into the condition of the local population, mainly Bedouin tribes.
