Leaders of Israel’s farming settlements warned today that cuts in the interim Jewish Agency budget threatened the existence of their villages and could do “catastrophic damage” to the country’s agricultural settlements. Present at a hastily convened session were the representatives of smallholders–moshavim–and collective settlements.
Dr. Raanan Weitz, head of the Agency’s settlement department agreed with the settlement leaders, asserting that his department could not operate “under such conditions.”
