Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon warned Tuesday that the plight of ethnic Albanians fleeing Kosovo could spread Islamic unrest throughout Europe. “The free world must look forward and see dangers in the future if a large bloc of Islamic states should develop what it’s possible to call a Greater Albania,” he told Israel Radio from the United States, where he was scheduled to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. While stating that Israel wanted to help the refugees, he added that “Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and who knows who else could join this game,” creating a “focus of activity that could cause unrest in Europe for a very long time.”
