The chief of the Mossad, Israel’s central intelligence agency, said in a newspaper interview published today that the massive publicity surrounding Israel’s destruction of Iraq’s nuclear reactor in an air raid June 7 has caused great harm to Israeli intelligence operations and had compromised sources of information.

The Mossad head, whose name is never disclosed and who rarely speaks to the media, deplored the “witches’ dance” of claims and counter-claims in an Haaretz interview today. He blamed Israel’s political leaders by implication when he noted that his criticism was “also” directed at the press.
