Israel Air Force Jets blasted Egyptian positions in the Suez Canal zone twice today, each time for 30 minutes and returned safely to their bases. There was no repetition of Saturday’s attacks on guerrilla bases in southern Lebanon which were bombed and strafed by Israeli aircraft for 90 minutes. The Lebanese border was reported quiet today. An Israeli border policeman was wounded this morning when Jordanians fired on an Israeli patrol near Neve Urr In the Beisan Valley. An Israeli soldier was wounded in an exchange of fire with Egyptian forces in the central section of the Suez Canal zone today. Two Arab guerrillas were killed last night in a clash with an Israeli patrol in Upper Galilee near the Lebanese border. There were no Israeli casualties. Defense Minister Moshe Dayan visited settlements near the Lebanese border yesterday to discuss security and economic problems.
Unknown persons from Lebanon kidnapped an Israeli Arab working in the fields of Yiftah settlement yesterday. The victim was Abdallah Ghanem, of Sahnin village in Upper Galilee. Israel announced today that it will soon release about 50 Arab guerrillas captured in the March, 1968 raid on the main guerrilla base at Karameh in Jordan. According to a Defense Ministry announcement the prisoners will be freed at the personal request of the International Red Cross.
