Israel Air Force jets attacked Egyptian targets in the southern and central sections of the Suez Canal zone today, penetrating about 20 kilometers inside Egyptian territory. A military spokesman said the attack lasted 20 minutes and all planes returned safely. Egyptian MIG-17s twice attacked Israeli positions in the canal zone this morning but were driven off by anti-aircraft fire. An Israeli spokesman said two of the MIGs were hit but were not seen crashing. An Israeli soldier was wounded in an exchange of fire with the Egyptians across the southern section of the canal today. Fifty-five Arab guerrillas captured in the Israeli raid on Karamah in Jordan in March 1968, were released from prison today and returned to Jordan. The prisoners were given food and drinking water as they boarded trucks at the Ramleh jail. They were released at the personal request of the International Red cross’ Middle East chief representative.
