Israeli jets struck targets in Egypt and Jordan today. The Egyptian targets were in the southern sector of the Suez Canal zone. In Jordan, the planes bombed and strafed artillery positions opposite the Beisan Valley in retaliation for a Jordanian attack on an Israeli patrol near Maoz Chaim. All planes returned safely.
Guerrillas in Jordan fired on a Beisan Valley settlement this morning but their shells fell short and landed on the east bank of the Jordan River. Israeli units did not return the fire. A hand grenade and a number of shots were aimed at an Israeli Army vehicle and a civilian car near the El Burj refugee camp in the Gaza Strip today. But there were no casualties. Security officials disclosed the capture of six saboteurs near the Umm Tutz pass on the Jordan River last week.
