Israeli Likud Knesset member Dan Meridor, who has announced he would run for prime minister in elections that are expected to occur this spring, met with members of the Third Way Party and former Tel Aviv Mayor Ronni Milo to discuss a new, centrist political party. Meanwhile, Communications Minister Limor Livnat and Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert discussed the possibility of challenging the Likud Party’s current leader, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Another senior Likud member, Ze’ev “Benny” Begin, held talks with other politicians on forming a new right-wing party.
