Minister of Social Welfare Rabbi I.M. Levin asserted today that the aim of his Ministry is to create the fullest possible social security system in Israel Rabbi Levin revealed that the budget of his Ministry from July through December of this year will be $1,440,000. Most of those funds will go towards “constructive work,” he stated.
A program of social welfare has already been launched among the Arabs, while Israeli school children are now receiving hot noonday meals. The Ministry maintains 60 social welfare centers throughout Israel whose main purpose is to assist the thousands of newly-arriving immigrants. A network of 11 children’s aid depots is also run by the Ministry. These minister to the needs of 1,200 under-privileged children.
