Israels Cabinet took a move today to boost the domestic automobile manufacturing industry by decreeing that, in the future, all cars used by Government officials and personnel be made in this country. The rule will affect also companies controlled by the Governments.
Under the Cabinet decision, which held that cars of Israeli make or assembly have now proved themselves efficient, all non-Israeli autos used officially will be replaced gradually with the cars of Israeli origin or assembly.
Today’s regular meeting of the Cabinet was presided over, for the first time in a month, by Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, He has been absent due to a heavy cold and slight fever. Appearing hale and hearty again, he resumed his duties at his office this morning. At noon, he participated in a ceremony in the garden facing his office, where children of members of his staff planted trees.
