The Elath-Ashkelon pipeline which carries oil from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean will be expanded from its present capacity of twenty-two million tons per year to forty-three million tons in 1973. Deputy Finance Minister Zvi Dinstein announced today. He said work would start shortly on underground oil storage tanks with a capacity of one million tons, which will be ready when work on the pipeline is completed.
