Israeli opposition leader Ehud Barak urged the Knesset committee responsible for preparing a bill that would force early elections to expedite the process despite the summer recess. Barak said the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “has come to the end of the road” and blamed it for a host of social ills. Committee chairman Hanan Porat said he plans neither to “bury” the bill nor to accelerate the legislative process.
