Israeli opposition leader Menachem Beigin said Tuesday he favored co-existence and equal rights for Jews and Palestinian Arabs in Israel. In an exclusive interview in the Belgian newspaper “Le Soir,” Beigin also said he was happy Premier Golda Meir accepted the opposition’s proposal to postpone participation in a peace conference until after the Dec. elections. He said this was important because the Israelis must first choose a parliament and government. He added that only a Cabinet with a clear mandate could represent Israel at a conference table.
