Inmates of Israel’s prisons will receive vacations under terms of a bill which passed its first reading in Knesset today. The bill, which is unopposed by prison authorities, authorizes them to give vacations of up to four days, depending on good behavior and length of sentence.

A total of 130,000 refugees were removed from 42 maabaroth and provided with permanent housing in the period between January 1953 and April 1957, Morecai Namir, Israeli Labor Minister, reported today to Knesset. He said 2,500 housing units were being completed this year to liquidate existing temporary housing facilities.
