Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon held out little hope for a meeting soon between Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat. “Arafat must stop terrorism” before the meeting will be held, Sharon told the visiting French foreign minister, Hubert Vedrine. Sharon accused Palestinians of carrying out 99 “terrorist attacks” since Arafat announced a cease-fire last week.
