Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said he holds Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat responsible for the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’evi. “The responsibility is Arafat’s alone, as someone who has carried out and is carrying out acts of terrorism and never took steps against it,” Sharon told a special memorial session of the Knesset. Sharon also said that by providing a haven for “murderers,” the Palestinian Authority showed that it seeks “the destruction of the state of Israel” and “opposes peace in the deepest sense.”
