Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backed away from ordering the assassination of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein on the eve of last month’s U.S.-British air strikes, according to the London Sunday Times. The newspaper said Netanyahu rejected the plan after it was given only a 1-in-5 chance of success.
