Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a ministerial forum to discuss ongoing efforts to secure the release of the former U.S. Navy intelligence analyst serving a life sentence for spying for Israel. Israel Radio reported that Netanyahu also directed the Israeli Embassy in Washington to maintain contact with Jonathan Pollard, who is serving his sentence in a North Carolina prison. Labor and Social Affairs Minister Eliyahu Yishai met with Pollard this week and presented him with a message from Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the spiritual leader of the Shas Party.
