Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ignored American objections and slipped away from the secluded site of the Middle East summit to meet with settler leaders. The settlers urged the premier not to make any concessions to the Palestinians. Netanyahu had invited them to join him at the Wye Plantation for Shabbat, but American officials refused to admit them to the summit site.
