Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and opposition leader Ariel Sharon took their campaigns to the Moscow airwaves, hoping to win over Russian voters at home. Major Russian stations are broadcast by cable and satellite to Israel, and appearing on Russian television provides a way for Israeli politicians to reach the more than 1 million immigrants from the former Soviet Union who now live in Israel.
