Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak hired David Libai, a criminal lawyer and former justice minister, to represent him during the police investigation of possibly illegal campaign-funding practices by Barak’s party during last year’s election. Israeli newspapers said Libai resigned from his Labor Party posts to avoid any suspicion of conflict of interest while representing Barak.
