Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak raised the fate of Jonathan Pollard with President Clinton and proposed unlinking the Israeli spy’s release from the peace process, according to a senior U.S. official. Barak said the matter should be handled privately and refused to answer questions about Pollard during a news conference Monday with Clinton.
