Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak said he would not resume talks with Syria until Damascus reins in Hezbollah activities in southern Lebanon. Barak issued the statement after Hezbollah gunmen killed three Israeli soldiers and wounded at least four others during an attack on an Israeli patrol in southern Lebanon.
