Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak would consider granting the Palestinians a “territorial advance” on an upcoming withdrawal from the West Bank to underscore Israel’s seriousness about negotiations, the premier was quoted as telling his Cabinet. Barak also said Israel is not interested in annexing Palestinian areas surrounding Jerusalem and that most Jewish settlements would remain in blocs under Israeli sovereignty in a final settlement.
