The British Ministry for Defense today said that it had no record of the sale of small warships or fighting vehicles to Israel for many months.
The statement was made in comment on a report that the Israeli freighter Tsfonit, which is due to leave for Israel shortly from Southampton, was carrying a military cargo of six tanks, 24 armored vehicles and a motor gunboat. The Ministry’s statement added that the Tsfonit’s cargo probably included surplus items sold to private dealers soon after the end of World War II.
