The Zim Lines contemplate regular service between the Great Lakes and the Levant with 7, 000 ton freighter now being built for this purpose and expected to be ready for the opening of the St, Lawrence Seaway. For the time being, Zim will employ chartered vessels of shallow draft. The first, the steamer “Askholm,” sails from Chicago in mid-June, via Milwaukee, Toledo and Detroit for Piraeus, Iskenderun, Haifa and Tel Aviv.
