Israeli tanks fired shells near the Khan Younis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip. The army said it was responding to gunfire from Khan Younis aimed at military posts near the Jewish settlements of Gadid and Neveh Dekalim, where one Israeli was wounded. Israeli troops battled with Palestinian gunmen at several other Gaza locations.
