Israeli troops killed a Hamas gunman in the Gaza Strip.
The gunman was shot dead early Wednesday while trying to carry out an attack at the Sufa crossing on Gaza’s border with Israel. There were no Israeli casualties in the incident.
Palestinian terrorists on Wednesday fired four rockets from Gaza into Israel, causing no damage. The previous day, despite Israel’s decision to ease a blockade on Gaza, 17 rockets were launched into Israeli territory.
Fatah, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees claimed responsibility for the salvos. Israel says Hamas bears ultimate responsibility, as it has ruled Gaza since June.
