A spokesman for the Immigration and Naturalization Service said today that Efraim Margolin, a former Irgun Zvai Leumi member, is being held at Ellis Island in “temporary exclusion for the purpose of investigation.”
Since Mr. Margolin is an Israel national, Israel authorities have concerned themselves with his detainment. Sen. Guy M. Gillette said he was also looking into the case. It was pointed out by the Immigration and Naturalization Service that Mr. Margolin has not been excluded from visiting the U.S. but that his confinement is only temporary while his case is under study.
