Government leaders, high Army officers, municipal officials and children throughout Israel yesterday participated in the observance of the 15th of Shevat, the day devoted to planting trees.
Premier David Ben Gurion planted the first sapling at Ramath Gen where the town has begun the planting of a national forest park on the site of the closest penetration of Arab troops during the war of the liberation. The Premier and Gen. Yigal Yadin, Army Chief of Staff, also participated in the planting of a grove which will eventually be expanded to a forest in honor of the Jewish Brigade.
